Fire NOC & License – Tamil Nadu
Fire safety approvals are mandatory in Tamil Nadu to ensure buildings meet fire prevention and protection norms. The Tamil Nadu Fire & Rescue Services (TNFRS) is the competent authority.
Fire NOC (No Objection Certificate)
- Required before construction for MSB and Non-MSB buildings as per Fire Service Rules
- Applicable to buildings above 18 m, public/commercial establishments, hazardous industries, and high-rise residential buildings
- Process: plan submission → technical scrutiny → site inspection → approval or modification
Fire License
- Mandatory for fire-hazard establishments such as hotels, petrol bunks, gas agencies, factories, and industries
- Issued after document submission and inspection of fire safety installations
Fire Compliance Certificate
- Issued after construction to confirm implementation of approved fire safety measures
- Mandatory before occupancy approval
Key Fire Safety Requirements
- Fire extinguishers, sprinklers, hydrants, alarms, and smoke detectors
- Adequate exits, staircases, and electrical safety measures
- Fire drills, evacuation plans, and approved firefighting systems
