CEIG Approval in Tamil Nadu
The Chief Electrical Inspectorate to Government (CEIG), Tamil Nadu, ensures electrical safety and approves HT and LT installations before commissioning, as required under the Tamil Nadu Electricity Act and CEA regulations.
Approval Process
- Application by owner or contractor with electrical drawings and safety details
- Inspection of installations, transformers, earthing, and safety systems
- Issue of CEIG safety clearance enabling power connection from TANGEDCO
HT & LT Connections
- HT Connection
Required for loads above 112 kW (150 HP), operating at 11/22/33 kV; CEIG approval is mandatory. - LT Connection
For loads below 112 kW (150 HP), operating at 230 V or 415 V; CEIG approval not required, but safety compliance is mandatory
